This mumma is all about creating new experiences for my Lil Bug. I’m admittedly more excited about upcoming plays dates, day trips and adventures I’ve setup for our little man than I he is at times, but I tell myself that’s because he’s only 1 and has no idea what is planned (that’s what I tell myself anyways. ..lol). I’ve always tried to take advantage of my ability to take a year long maternity leave (I feel so blessed to be able to have a year off) and planned as many mum and son outings as I possibly could. A lot of times we kept it simple, taking hikes down local trails we had never visited, trips to new parks, conservation areas, first attempts baking cookies with mum, painting pictures, making mugs, even gardening with mum aka playing in the dirt, or having our first fun in the snow day. Sometimes we ventured further; heading to weddings, formal events, lavender farms, strawberry picking and making jam, picking Halloween decor and pumpkins from a pumpkin patch, attending fall fairs, farmers markets, gardens, babyshows, hitting the beach, hobby farms, petting zoos, art shows, crafting events, garden nurseries, taking swimming lessons, and attending community centre daycare and daily daycare to make new friends!
I feel these first experiences are crucial, whether to socialize my little man, or simply to enrich his life and bring him joy. I love watching him learn and experience new things, and to see how much my inquisitive little man loves each new adventure. His joy, smiles, giggles, chatter, and sparkling bright eyes are infectious and sure signs he is benefiting from these new experiences as much as I am. It is incredible how quickly he learns, how instantly he makes new friends and has them madly in love with him in seconds (the love is mutual).
I encourage you to introduce your little one to the world you know and love, to the things that are important to you and your happiness, and take this opportunity to try all those things you wish you tried during your lifetime. There are few things more fun than living life through the eyes and experiences of a child, or having that second chance to be a child again.
My love and appreciation of life and new experiences has grown more in the last year than it has in the last ten admittedly. My Lil Bug is not only a blessing to me as my child, but as the gateway to endless new adventures and personal growth I will get to experience in my lifetime.
Thank you Lil Bug, for being my pride and joy, the love of my life, and my partner in crime and fun! I love you to the moon and back. xo
Wishing you a lifetime filled with new adventures, big and small, and endless joy, laughter, and fun-filled experiences as you create your own story with your little one by your side. I hope your inner child blossoms through their new experiences and yours, and that you get to do all those things you thought you were too old to try.
Have fun being and witnessing the growth of your child on your new adventure!
